How I Read Tag

Hey guys, first I would like to say, sorry for kind of disappearing. I wasn't quite sure if I was going to really do this "blog" thing. But, I'm back!! :D

Anyway, on to the tag!!! :)

 1. How do you find out about new books to read?
Goodreads of course <3 :) If you don't no what that is...It's a great book website with a great community. Here's the link to my page: https://www.goodreads.com/Cat335

2. How did you get into reading?
I got into reading in like 5th grade with the Ranger Apprentice books by John Flanagan
My best friend of now introduced them to me and I loved them <3

3. How has your taste in books changed as you've gotten older?
It has changed A LOT XD Through the years I've gotten more advanced of course. I got into classics and things of a more difficult level. I now read mainly YA but I've gotten into a lot of philosophical books too.

4. How often do you buy books?
Maybe 1 every 2 months is a good estimate? I mainly go to the library for books. If the public and my school library doesn't have a book I want then ill buy it. But, its just too expensive to buy them all.

5. How did you get into BookBlogging?
Well, a friend said I should start and I just went for it ;)

6. How do you react when you don't like the end of a book?
I usually...

Hehehe Chowder XD Nahh, I wouldn't THROW a book away but, I usually slam the cover closed and go mope in another room with the good books XDD

7. How often have you taken a sneaky look at the back page of a book to see if it's a happy ending?
*contemptuous sniff* I would NEVER * walk away*

8. How many people are you going to tag, and who are they?
Hmm, I tag...EVERYONE!!! *throws confetti* ;D

Allegiant Review

3/5 stars

*This review contains minor spoilers*

I have to say I was beyond excited when I received Allegiant, the final installment in the Divergent trilogy. But, I'm sorry to say that I'm slightly disappointed with it.  To me Roth is a great author. The trilogy had a great story-line, characters, relationship etc. But, this all kind of disappeared in this book. In my opinion, her writing style/skill isn't that great, and I feel that showed very prominently in this book.  More so than the others.

Surprisingly, it was actually the plot of Allegiant that was its main downfall. The plot was all over the place and had little to no organization. Throughout the book, nothing was really made clear. It was just thrown in, event after event. Punch after punch. I don't think a book really needs that. Allegiant had a lot of room to develop more. Roth introduced the new concept of genetically pure and damaged along with many others when, there was still room for developing past themes that were still contributing to the novel. By the end nothing seemed really resolute or resolved and there was just a basic lack of explanation.

Not only that but, the character development was also weak. Lets start off with the main character, Tris. She just seemed very unrealistic in Allegiant. Going back to the first two books, she made mistakes, which made her seem so human. It made her very relatable. For the majority of the book she was never wrong. She automatically became this strong, smart, and selfless person; it went to such a ridiculous extent. With this she became a very condescending character and it made her extremely unlikeable.

As for Four, he seemed to lose his strength. I understand that he's not perfect and that's not what I want. But, in the first two books he was so strong in facing his issues. This Four seems...different...shattered. He lost all his defining traits in this book. He becomes, irrational, weak, and uncertain. I wont go deeper into his character changes though, because I don't want to spoil anything.

Their relationship also wasn't something I could appreciate, as it seemed very contrived. They fought over the smallest things and made up in ways that made no sense. It became very irritating.

As an overall I think the book lacked, plot, character, and relationship development. It was repetitive and disappointing. I may be being a little nice in my rating of 3 stars. I think its probably the sentimental value this trilogy holds for me that keeps me from giving it a lower rating. In truth I would only recommend this to die-hard fans of Divergent or people who just want to finish the trilogy.

About Me

So, I decided to do a little thing about me since I'm just starting out. I love reading and writing, always have, and always will. I made this blog so I can share my passion with the rest of you guys. I wanted a place where I could talk about whatever and gain the chance get to know some of you. Some of my favorite books are, The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness, Iron Codex by Catlin Kittregde, Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin, Legend by Marie Lu, and a lot more. Ill try most things, as I'm pretty open with book choices. I mainly write horror but, I also greatly enjoy poetry. I've always had an interest in history, art, and volunteering. Anyways, tell me a bit about yourself in the comments!!! :D

The Ultimate Book Tag!!

I have been asked to do the Ultimate Book Tag!!! :D

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?
No...

2. Which author's writing style is completely unique to you and why?
Ellen Hopkins and Marcus Zusak. As for why? I've just never seen anyone like them before, they really stand out to me.

3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.
Pfft, HP all the way!!!

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is it in (besides books...)?
I don't carry one on a daily basis. But, when I go to the library I bring this Angry Birds bag. Uhh, library receipts I guess, its full of those.

5. Do you smell your books?
Is it weird to say yes??

6. Books with or without little illustrations?
Without. I like it sometimes but not often. The only book I can think of where I enjoyed illustration is Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn't quality writing? (Ex. I read Twilight before I read HP and thought the writing was amazing but read HP and now think Twilight is a little bit of a joke.)
Hmm, hard question...maybe Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I thought the actual story had so much potential but it just didn't turn out that great in the end.

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!
I don't really know XD.

The Supernaturalist by Eoin Colfer

I think Brisingr by Christopher Paolini, or the last Harry Potter book.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Always and forever

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated...what would you do?
Pretend I was super excited...

16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?
Eh, I don't really like to compare books

*GASP* How could I tie myself down to one word? I could never choose such a thing!!
This is an extremely hard question...

Fairies because, at the moment, I have a slight irritation towards vampires

Shapeshifters. I just never had much of an interest in Angels

Spirits. Werewolves are just too overdone.

Zombies because, as I said before, I have a slight irritation towards vampires at the moment.

24. Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?
FOBIDDEN LOVE!!! This is because they are MUCH more interesting

25. AND FINALLY: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?
Action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in
